After beating South Africa, Pakistan have managed to keep themselves afloat in the T20 World Cup semifinal race.

Pakistan defeated the Proteas by 33 runs making a comeback after an early onslaught by the SA batters.

This was a crucial win for Pakistan, who were reeling after losses against India and Zimbabwe and were on the verge of an early ouster from the tournament.

Pakistan pulled back their campaign after a big win against Netherlands by 6 wickets and a convincing win against South Africa.

As things stand in Group 2, Pakistan have pulled themselves back into the third position of the table, with four points to their name.

The big advantage that the side has is that they have a positive Net Run Rate advantage over Bangladesh and India for that matter.

But the Rohit Sharma-led India are still at the top of the group with 6 points from 5 matches.

Pakistan will be hoping for favourable results in India’s match vs Zimbabwe and South Africa’s against Netherlands and would hope to defeat Bangladesh by a big margin.

Pakistan’s win would mean that they will reach 6 points and then hope that India (6 points) and South Africa (5 points) drop their games, or at least one of the teams drop points in their game.

In case Proteas lose or their match is washed out, Pakistan will have a huge chance of going through. In case South Africa do not, Pakistan will not only have to win their match, but will have to wait for a favourable result from the India vs Zimbabwe game.
