Shubman Gill registered his name in the Indian circket's history book as he made his T20I debut for the Men in Blue against Sri Lanka on Tuesday (January 3).

The star India opener Gill made his ODI debut against New Zealand but it took him four years to play his first T20I for India.

Riding on his debut in the first T20I against Lankans, Gill became the 100th cricketer to play for Indian in the shortest format of the game.

Gill has already made his mark in ODIs and Tests for Team India. In 15 ODIs he has smashed 687 runs while in 13 Tests he has scored 736 runs.

Gill's T20I debut coincided with Shivam Mavi, who also made his T20I debut in the series opener against Sri Lanka.

Mavi became the 101st player to represent India in T20Is. Earlier, he became the most expensive uncapped player in the IPL 2023 mini auction.

Ex-KKR player, Mavi was roped in for a whopping Rs 6 crore by the defending champions Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 auction.

Team India became only the second Team after Australia to play more than 100 players in T20 Internationals.
