Japan yet again came back from a goal down to win their FIFA World Cup group stage match, this time beating Spain.

Goals from Ritsu Doan and Ao Tanaka in the second half turned the tide against their opponents, taking his team to the Round of 16.

Japan are the 3rd nation in FIFA World Cup history to be down at the break and come back to win 2 games in the same edition.

Earlier, Brazil did the same in 1938 and Germany in 1970.

The resilient Japanese are also the 1st ever Asian nation to beat 2 former FIFA World Cup Champions at the mega event.

What makes their achievement even better is that Japan completed the win with just 17% possession.

This is also the lowest possession ever recorded in FIFA World Cup history.

This win took them to the top of Group E, and now, the side will face 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia in the Round of 16.
