Karim Benzema scored twice during Real Madrid's 5-2 win over Liverpool in their Champions League Round of 16 tie.

In doing so, the 35-year-old matched PSG forward Lionel Messi's mouth-watering Champions League record.

Benzema has now scored in 18 consecutive seasons in the Champions League.

Messi and Benzema have scored in the Champions League in every consecutive season since the 2005-06 season.

His two goals on Wednesday morning helped Madrid return from a two-goal deficit.

They went on to beat the staunch English rivals 5-2 in what was a dominant second-half show.

After Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool the lead, Vinicius Jr. rescued the defending champions.

Benzema, who scored in the second half, dedicated the victory to former player Amancio Amaro.
