Pakistan-born wannabe fighter pilot's fairytale run to becoming T20 WC giant slayer

Riding on Sikandar Raza's heroics Zimbabwe thrashed Pakistan by one run in the T20 World Cup 2022 Super-12 match.

Sikandar Raza picked 3/25 and also threw an accurate throw in the last over to win the match for Zimbabwe against Pakistan from the jaws of defeat.

Sikandar Raza was born in Sialkot, Pakistan and also pursued his early education there. He wanted to become a fighter pilot since his childhood.

Sikandar Raza had enrolled himself in the Air Force College but later was rejected after failing in eye test in the third year which shattered his dream.

His family later shifted from Pakistan to Zimbabwe. At the same time, Sikandar Raza went to Scotland for higher education.

Sikandar returned to Zimbabwe after studies and made his First-class debut in 2007. He started taking his game seriously from 2010-11 and there was no looking back from then.

In 2013, Sikandar Raza made it to the Zimbabwe national team. Since then he has been a core part of the team. He is a strong middle order batter and and ace spin bowler.

Sikandar Raza has played 17 Tests, 123 ODIs and 63 T20Is so far. He has scored 6028 runs and picked 140 wickets in all three formats.
