T20 WC 2022 kicks off with an upset 

The opening match of the 2022 T20 World Cup saw one of the biggest upsets in the game's history as Namibia beat Sri Lanka by 55 runs.

Namibia put up a big total of 163-7 on the board despite faltering at 35-3 at one stage and in reply Sri Lanka could manage to put a score of 108 and lost the match by 55 runs.

Here is a look back at five of the biggest upsets in the history of the T20 World Cup before Namibia-Sri Lanka's incredible result in the T20 WC 2022's opener.

Afghanistan bt WI (2016)

The 2016 T20 WC saw West Indies become the 1st team to lift the trophy twice in history. In that edition Afghanistan posted a total of 123 and WI fell short by 6 runs.

Netherlands bt England (2014)

The Dutchmen stunned the cricketing world by rocking England's campaign with a massive 45-run win. In reply to Netherlands' 133 England were bowled out for just 88.

Scotland bt Bangladesh (2021)

Scotland put up a total of 140 on the board to which Bangladesh fell short by 6 runs. However, Bangladesh recovered from the setback and qualified for the Super 12 then.

Zimbabwe bt Australia (2007)

The inaugural edition of the 2007 T20 World Cup saw one of the biggest upsets so far in the tournament's history. Zimbabwe beat Australia by 5 wickets in Cape Town in a last-over thriller.

Netherlands bt England (2009)

Netherlands painted London orange by registering a stunning victory over hosts England by a margin of 4 wickets. The Dutchmen successfully chased down a total of 163.
