Young wicketkeeper-batter Tristan Stubbs was the costliest player at the inaugural auction of the first edition of the Proteas' SA 20 League.

A former Pune Warriors player in the IPL, he was bought by the Pretoria Capitals for a massive price of Rs 2.52 crore.

Eastern Cape

He was bought by SunRisers Eastern Cape for R 9.1 million (Rs 4.1 crore) after a bidding war between MI Cape Town and JoBurg Super Kings.

IPL 2022

Tristan Stubbs made his IPL debut in 2022 after he signed as a replacement for fast bowler Tymal Mills midway through the season. 

Rilee Rossouw

Among the other costliest buys in the SA 20 League auction was Rilee Rossouw. He was bought for Rs 3.1 crore by the Pretoria Capitals.

Marco Jansen

Marco Jansen was another big acquisition for the SunRisers Eastern Cape. He cost the franchise Rs 2.74 crore for his services.

Playing for parent club

The talented Marco Jansen was not unsurprisingly bought by the SunRisers Eastern Cape, owned by his IPL team SunRisers Hyderabad.

Wayne Parnell

Veteran late-bloomer Wayne Parnell was among the most expensive all-rounders to be sold at the auction.

Donovan Ferreira



Among the biggest surprise buys was that of the uncapped Donovan Ferreira. JoBurg Super Kings spent Rs 2.475 crore for him.
