Rouzbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Rezaeian both scored in stoppage time to secure Iran a famous 2-0 World Cup win over Wales.

Rouzbeh Cheshmi scored in the eighth minute of stoppage time to break a scoreless stalemate.

Cheshmi's strike from outside the box was just beyond the diving reach of Wales backup goalkeeper Danny Ward.

With that strike, Cheshmi broke Toni Kross' record of scoring the latest game-winning goal in regulation time.

In the 2008 FIFA World Cup, Kross scored a winner at the 94:42-minute mark against Sweden.

Cheshmi scored the winning goal for Iran at the 97:56-minute mark against Iran.

With a stunning win over 10-man Wales, Iran kept their Round of 16 qualification hopes alive.

Wales goalkeeper Hennessy was ejected in the 86th minute for a high challenge on Mehdi Taremi.

Despite Argentina's shock defeat, Lionel Messi continues to break records.
