Nitu's father Jai Bhagwan Ghanghas was a government employee but quit his job to help her boxing career.

Her father's sacrifice

Nitu was a big fan of the sport of boxing from a very young age. Her father introduced her to the sport and helped her join anearby club for training.

Fond of boxing since childhood

In 2008, when boxer Vijender Singh won a medal in the Olympics, it turned out to be a big inspiration for Nitu, who decided that she would grow up to be a boxer.

Nitu faced a lot of struggles on her way to becoming a boxer. The training centre was 2.5 km away from Nitu's house. She used to travel by foot.

To give Nitu a good diet for boxing, her parents bought a buffalo. Nitu's parents bought this buffalo by taking a loan of 2.5 lakh rupees.

Nitu secured a place in the Commonwealth Games in February 2022 after beating Olympic boxer Mary Kom. She has also won the Asian Youth Boxing Stradja Cup.
