Massive crash sours cycling event at CWG 2022

During the men's 15km scratch race qualifying round, there was a major crash involving a lot of the cyclists and numerous injuries 

The incident took place during the Commonwealth Games 2022, when a number of cyclists collided into each other and went crashing into the barriers 

When did it happen?

The most injured was England cyclist Matt Walls, who crashed against the wall surrounding the track, and catapulted over it and landed in the crowds 

Who was injured?

Team England provided an update on Walls' health, "Matt is alert and talking -- as he has been throughout -- and is being given medical attention in hospital."

It was a massive crash that saw many cyclists hurt themselves in the process. The video was taken by a spectator 'Freddie King' and posted on Twitter

The accident took place while Walls was switching course in order to avoid riders that had fallen. Another, Matt Bostock, was taken to hospital after injuries 

How did it happen

Canadian Mathias Guillemette was disqualified for causing the initial crash. Medics coaches were also seen assisting the injured 

Who was responsible?

A total of eight riders crashed in the final lap of the race. The remainder of the morning session was cancelled
