It was the Pegula family that bought the Buffalo Bills for $1.4 billion back in 2014 and since then, they have been the owners. According to a recent Forbes report, the current value of the team is somewhere around $4.2 billion.
The former US President tried to buy the Buffalo Bills
According to a new report released by Rolling Stone, it was former US President Donald Trump who tried his luck to buy Buffalo Bills in 2014. The offer was around $1 billion but the deal fell off due to many various reasons.
It was reported by Rolling Stones that Trump had faced stiff competition from global music star Bon Jon Jovi, along with the owners of Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays to acquire the franchise. It was also reported that Trump's net worth rocketed sky-high to show the National Football League (NFL) that he too can afford to buy a team.

Not the first time for former US President: Donald Trump
Meanwhile, this was not the first time Trump had attempted to own an NFL franchise. Back in 1988, Trump had his eyes set on the New England Patriots but was advised not to buy the franchise because it had debts over $100 million. In 1981, Trump was part of the group that wanted to buy the Baltimore Colts.
The former US President once rejected the opportunity to buy Dallas Cowboys for $50 million which was later on bought by Jerry Jones. Had Trump bought the franchise, he would have been the owner of one of the most valuable sports teams in the world.
Trump would not have run for President if he had bought Buffalo Bills
According to the Rolling Stones, Trump would not have run for the President's post had he bought the Buffalo Bills back in 2014. A former associate of Trump spoke on the matter and said, "If he was doing that [owning and operating the Bills] and running that kind of a business, that would have been relatively new for him, I think it would have been hard for him to then put all his energy into running for president.”
