Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won 33-16 against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4 of the National Football League (NFL). Surprisingly, Tom Brady was calling the game for FOX Sports. Mayfield had earlier made comments that the players on his side were less stressed after he was the quarterback.

What did Bill Belichick say in favour of Tom Brady?

Many people thought that it was a dig at Brady, who was the Buccaneers' quarterback as last year only Baker Mayfield signed with the team. During the broadcast, Brady mentioned 'being stressful is not having a Super Bowl ring' and if he wanted to have fun, he would have gone to Disneyland with his kids.

While talking at the McAfee show, Bill Belichick was asked about Brady's comment. The former New England Patriots coach defended Brady and mentioned that he is 'probably the greatest player of all time'.

He said, "I certainly understand where Tom coming from. Honestly, I think there's a lot more stress when you're not winning. Winning is hard, it's very hard in the NFL... I think both of those guys have a lot of respect for each other. I don't think either one of them really is malicious."

"Look, Baker is his own person, Tom is his own person. They're both very successful. Nobody's more successful than Brady. I don't know anybody could question anything Tom has done... probably the greatest player of all time and certainly had the most success of any NFL player. So, let's leave it at that," Belichick added.

After signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020, Tom Brady went on to win the Super Bowl in his first season and led the team to two division titles. He has a 31-18 record as their quarterback. Brady and Mayfield have a good relationship as they were seen greeting each other after the game.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers are off to a great start

Baker Mayfield led the Buccaneers to a division title last season and signed a $100 million contract extension with the team. The team is off to a great start and sees themselves at the top of the NFC South Division.

In the four games played this season, Mayfield has thrown 984 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions. He also completed 70.5% of his throws. The Buccaneers will next take on the Atlanta Falcons and if they win that game, it will put them in a position where they are favourable to win the division.
