Kansas City Chiefs star player Patrick Mahomes has had a superb start to his National Football League (NFL) career that saw him become one of the best quarterbacks in the league. Just a few weeks into his rookie season for the team in 2018, he spoke to ESPN's Lisa Salters and revealed what keeps him humble.

They try to mimic my voice: Patrick Mahomes

The then 23-year-old Mahomes told Salters that the head coach Andy Reid and his other teammates try to mimic his voice and he has been compared to Kermit the Frog as well.

"If I have ever gotten too big of a head, they just kinda bring out the voice, you know, they try to mimic my voice. That's kinda gotten its thing in the locker room," Mahomes said.

When he was asked who does the mimicry of his voice the best, his answer came as a shock and he said, "Coach Andy Reid does. He has the perfect imitation of the voice."

He had a fantastic 2018 as he led the Kansas City Chiefs to a 12-4 record and even won the division title. He registered 5,097 yards while throwing and had 50 touchdowns to his name. The Chiefs managed to defeat the Indianapolis Colts in the divisional round before losing out to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game.

Las Vegas Raiders mocked Patrick Mahomes' voice with Kermit the Frog puppet

It was revealed by Patrick Mahomes years ago, that he could deal with his own team trying to mimic his voice. But, the AFC West rivals Las Vegas Raiders took the matter to a whole another level this summer.

During the 2024 NFL training camp, the Raiders passed around a Kermit the Frog puppet and mocked the three-time Super Bowl champion. Not just this, they even added curly hair and a Chiefs jersey to the puppet to show everyone for whom it was.

Mahomes was then asked by the reporters whether he had seen the video and he said that he heard about it and he would rather take care of this situation on the field.

"Stuff like that happens. It'll get handled when it gets handled. Everybody just lets me play. They know how I am. They don't need to send me anything to keep me motivated," Mahomes concluded.
