Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr revealed when veteran Draymond Green will return to the court. The Warriors endured a thumping loss (130-105) against the Phoenix Suns at the Chase Center on Friday, January 31.

What did Steve Kerr say about Draymond Green's return?

Following the thumping loss to the Suns, Kerr was asked about an update on Green. The head coach mentioned that he participated in scrimmages and might return to action next week.

He (Green) scrimmaged today. He will practice with us tomorrow. We are expecting him to play sometime next week, not sure which game but we will see how he comes up. He scrimmaged and did fine. So, he is on the right track, Kerr said.

The 34-year-old forward has been sidelined for the last seven games that the Warriors have played due to a left calf strain. He sustained the injury during their clash against the Washington Wizards on January 18.

The Warriors have dearly missed Green on the defensive end, particularly in their loss to the Suns. The Suns capitalised on their defensive struggles as they shot 56% from the field including 49% from beyond the arc that led to a thumping loss for Stephen Curry and Co.

As far as things go for the Suns, their 'big 3' delivered. Devin Booker led the way as he scored 31 points, Kevin Durant added 19 and Bradley Beal chipped in with 21 points coming from the bench.

The injuries for Green this season have been a persistent issue for the Warriors this season. He has already missed 14 games so far from the 48 games that the Warriors have played.

What does Steve Kerr want from the front office?

Before the clash between the Warriors and the Suns, Steve Kerr had pleaded to the front office to make a trade.

Kerr believes that the current roster is not that strong enough to compete at the highest level and they need reinforcements before the trade deadline.

We're not in a position where we can just say ‘nah, we’re good. Let’s stand pat.’ That’s the reality of where we are, Kerr added.

The Warriors currently find themselves outside of play-in contention as they are eleventh in the Western Conference with a 24-24 record to their name.
