Former India captain and batting legend Sachin Tendulkar on September 6 (Tuesday) came in support of young Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh, who is being relentlessly trolled on social media since the time Men in Blue lost their Super Four stage match against arch-rivals Pakistan by five wickets. Tendulkar, who is one of the most prominent figures in cricket history, rallied behind the youngster and penned a motivational post while also subtly lambasting trolls.
Cricket God Sachin Tendulkar Supports Arshdeep Singh:
"Every athlete representing the country gives their best and plays for the nation always. They need our constant support & remember, that in sports you win some & you lose some. Let's keep cricket or any other sport free from personal attacks. @arshdeepsinghh keep working hard and give the best reply by performing on the field. I am keenly following you. My best wishes," Tendulkar wrote on his official Twitter handle.
The netizens came down hard on Arshdeep Singh after he dropped a simple catch at short third-man off Ravi Bishnoi's bowling in the 18th over of India's innings and handed Asif Ali a new lease of life. The Pakistan batter took full advantage of Arshdeep's howler and put his team in the driver's seat by smacking a six and a four in the following over bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
The left-arm seamer dismissed Asif Ali in the last over of the match but the explosive right-hander had already done his job. From being dropped on zero to playing a match-winning cameo of 16 runs off eight balls, Arshdeep's mistake proved hazardous for Team India.
