India will face Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023 on September 9.

The Asia Cup 2023 is in full swing, with all eyes now on the weather in Colombo on the eve of the crucial Super Fours match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan. Many were sceptical about the games proceeding without hindrance, especially with the Colombo weather reports suggesting heavy rainfall.

Despite these bleak predictions and a 90 per cent probability of rain forecasted for September 9, Colombo's skies narrated a different tale. The city woke up to a sunny morning, with not a raincloud in sight, rekindling hopes for uninterrupted cricket action. The Pakistan cricket team made full use of the clear weather, practising at the R Premadasa Stadium. Subsequently, the Indian team took to the field for their practice session in the afternoon, revving up for the much-anticipated IND vs PAK clash.

The first match in the Super Fours saw Sri Lanka take on Bangladesh in Colombo. But the true highlight, drawing attention from millions, is the face-off between arch-rivals India and Pakistan on September 10 Given the gravity of this match and the huge fan following, every factor, from team strategy to today's weather in Colombo, is under scrutiny.

Recent heavy downpours in Colombo had led to speculations about possibly shifting matches to Hambantota. However, the Asian Cricket Council stood firm on their initial schedule. Furthermore, to alleviate concerns, ACC has prudently set a reserve day for the high-tension India vs Pakistan match.

This measure ensures that if the IND vs PAK match weather turns foul on September 10, the match will continue on the 11th, picking up from where it was interrupted. This decision is particularly resonant as their earlier league-stage encounter in Pallekele had to be abandoned due to rain.

Looking ahead, the Asia Cup final scheduled for 17th September already has a safety net in place. A reserve day has been organised, ensuring the climax of the tournament isn't marred by unpredictable Sri Lanka weather forecasts.
