The Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team is competing against Najmul Hossain Shanto's Bangladesh in the second and final Test of the two-match series which is being played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, on September 27 (Friday). However, persistent rain forced the officials to call off early stumps on Day 1 as only 35 overs were bowled. The hosts were looking in a good position as they managed to get three wickets and push the visitors almost on the backfoot.
Rain constantly played a factor
First rain caused almost an hour delay in the toss and later during lunch the showers further delayed the match by 15 minutes. However, during the second session of the day, the rain became too heavy and the officials had to decide in favour of calling off the opening day of the second Test after just 35 overs. The forecast predicts a similar kind of weather throughout the first four days which might force this match towards a draw but hopefully, this would not be the scene on Day two and everyone gets to witness the match without interruption.

He struck again and got the second wicket just 22 balls later and this time it was Shadnam Islam returning to the dugout after scoring 24 off 36 balls. By the 13th over, Akash Deep had dismissed both Bangladesh openers and gave his team a rollicking start.
Ashwin strikes post-lunch
India got their third wicket into the third over after the lunch, this time it was veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin who got a wicket as he dismissed Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto on just 31 runs. Rain once again stopped the game and at stumps, Bangladesh were on 107/3 by 35 overs. Ashwin has also surpassed Anil Kumble in the list of most Test wickets in Asia. He now has 420 Test wickets in Asia.
