Virat Kohli will now feature in the second Test match against Bangladesh.

Former India wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik backs Virat Kohli despite his poor performance in the first Test match against Bangladesh which was played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Kohli, who made his comeback in the longest format of the game after the 2023/24 South Africa Test series, scored 6 and 17 runs respectively in the first clash against Bangladesh. Apart from Kohli, India captain Rohit Sharma was also unable to score runs in the first Test match. In the first innings, he chased an outside off-stump delivery by pacer Hasan Mahmud to lose his wicket, Kohli fell victim to spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz through LBW.

There were again questions on Kohli's form by his fans, now a fan asked his former Indian Premier League (IPL) teammate Dinesh Karthik about Kohli's performance in the Chennai Test and asked if Kohli needs top work on his batting skills.

"Kohli's return to Tests hasn't been what we were eager to see. He is a beast but do you think he will have to look back at this series as an eye-opener for him to work on a few things?" asked a fan to the ex-wicketkeeper batter on Cricbuzz.

Karthik said: "Why? Two innings, he has gotten out, sir? Two innings? It's Virat Kohli, he is completely okay. One Test doesn't change anything about his life. He is a champion. Big matches, who do you want? Virat Kohli! He is the king."

However, despite a flop show by Rohit and Virat India won the 1st Test match by 280 runs to take a 1-0 lead in two Test match series. Team India including Kohli are currently in Kanpur where the Men in Blue will face Bangladesh for the second Test match which will be played at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from September 27 to October 1.
