Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed ended Shubman Gill's beautiful 46-run knock that was breaking Pakistan's back in the 242-run-chase during match 5 of the ongoing edition of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against Pakistan which is being played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, on February 23 (Sunday). However, the bowler gave Gill an arrogant and unnecessary send-off which drew a lot of criticism.
Abrar Ahmed's arrogant send-off
Abrar Ahmed is receiving endless criticism all over social media after his arrogant behaviour went viral on the internet. The Pakistan spinner gave an unnecessary send-off to star Indian batter Shubman Gill after taking his wicket. Gill who scored a century in the last game appeared to be in great touch during this clash as well after scoring 46 runs. He even once smashed three boundaries in a single over of Shaheen Afridi and then two in his next overs.
The Pakistan spinner broke the 69-run stand between Gill and Virat Kohli that helped the Indian innings take a stand in the chase against the Men in Green.
India came out to chase 242 runs and once again Rohit Sharma tried to give the team a good start. However, he could not do it for a long time as Shaheen Afridi dismissed him on the score of 20 off 15 balls. Later Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli joined 69 runs to further progress the Indian innings. At the time of writing, the Indian team is at 118/2 by the end of 2 overs with Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer still on the pitch.
Virat Kohli creates history
Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli created history as he completed 14000 ODI runs. The former Indian captain became the third batter in history after legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Sri Lankan great Kumar Sangakkara to reach the 14000-run milestone in ODIs. He is also the fastest batter to reach this milestone as he did it in just 287 innings. Whereas Tendulkar took 350 and Sangakkara took 378. Virat Kohli has been the fastest to score 8k to 14k runs.
