New Zealand's cricket team stormed into history books as they posted the highest-ever total in the Champions Trophy history on March 5. New Zealand scripted the historic feat during Champions Trophy semifinal clash against South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore where they posted a formidable total of 362/6.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, New Zealand's batters delivered a spectacular performance. Despite an early setback with the loss of Will Young, the partnership between Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson proved to be decisive. Their dominant batting display effectively put South Africa's bowlers under immense pressure, laying the foundation for New Zealand's record-breaking score.

New Zealand's record-breaking total was anchored by stunning centuries from Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson's robust centuries. Their 164-run partnership for the second wicket demoralised the South African bowling attack. Ravindra's aggressive 108 off 101 balls was complemented by Williamson's composed 102 off 94, marking his 48th international century.

The momentum was sustained by Daryl Mitchell, who contributed a rapid 49 off 37 deliveries. Glenn Phillips then provided a powerful finish, smashing an unbeaten 49 off 27 balls, including six fours and a six, ensuring New Zealand reached a commanding 362.

Despite New Zealand's batting brilliance, South Africa's Lungi Ngidi managed to claim three wickets. However, the South African pace bowlers struggled to contain the run flow, with all of them conceding runs at an economy rate exceeding seven runs per over.

New Zealand's remarkable batting display, culminating in a total of 362 runs, established a new world record for the highest score in the ICC Champions Trophy. This achievement surpassed the previous record held by Australia, who had scored 356 runs against England earlier in the same tournament, also at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The Black Caps' performance thus rewrote the record books, setting a new benchmark for batting excellence in the competition.
