India captain Rohit Sharma will lead the side in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 which is scheduled to take place in Dubai and Pakistan from February 19. Team India will play their Champions Trophy opener clash against Bangladesh in February 20 at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
As per ANI, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that Rohit will lead India in the upcoming mega event. Also, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is being discussed as India's next captain, added the sources.
Rohit recently captained India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and faced a lot of criticism after Australia defeated India 3-1 in the five Test match series. His captaincy has been a mix of memorable highs and some extremely disappointing lows. He guided India to a 2024 T20 World Cup win but the second half of the year was not in favour of Rohit as he is currently going through a lean patch in his career.

As a captain, Rohit touched some embarrassing lows as of late. Just before the Test series against Australia, India lost their first home Test series in 12 years, to New Zealand by 0-3. This was also their first-ever whitewash in a home Test series of three matches or more.
Rohit Sharma-led India are scheduled to play three-match ODI series before the Champions Trophy 2025. Team India will play all their Champions Trophy 2025 matches in Dubai. After facing Bangladesh in the opener clash, India will face arch-rivals Pakistan on February 23.
