Ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to a lower back injury sustained during Sydney Test, Jasprit Bumrah joined Team India at Dubai International Cricket Stadium ahead of their clash against Pakistan on February 23.
Bumrah got a loud cheer from the fans in Dubai as he entered the ground. He met his teammates and was seen posing with The ICC Test Player of the Year Award and Sir Garfield Sobers Award for ICC men's Cricketer of the Year along with the ICC T20 Team of the Year and the ICC Test Team of the Year caps.
Bumrah met with the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah as well. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja teased Bumrah and invited him to team warm-ups. Bumrah stood behind the team huddle ahead of the toss too.
Bumrah's replacement does well on Champions Trophy debut
Bumrah has been replaced by a young Harshit Rana in the side. Rana made his ODI debut in the series against England at home. On his Champions Trophy debut against Bangladesh on February 20, he took three wickets for 31 runs from 7.4 overs.
One change to Pakistan side
Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and opted to bat first in their must-win encounter. Rizwan made a forced change as he replaced an injured Fakhar Zaman with Imam-ul-Haq. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma went with an unchanged side.
