Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli welcomed the arrival of their second child, a baby boy, by dropping a special note on social media on February 20, Tuesday. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma shared the joyous news of the arrival of their second child, Akaay, with the world. Meanwhile, former and current cricketers across the world extended their congratulations following Virat-Anushka's announcement.

 

Virat, Anushka referred to their newborn as 'Vamika's little brother', revealing that he was born on Thursday, February 15. However, Kohli and Anushka requested privacy during this period.

 

Anushka Sharma took to Instagram to share Akaay's birth news

 

"With abundant happiness and our hearts all of love, we are pleased to inform everyone that on 15th February, we welcomed our baby boy Akaay & Vamika's little brother into this world! We seek your blessings and good wishes in this beautiful time in our lives. We request you to kindly respect our privacy at this time. Love & Gratitude. Virat & Anushka."

Sachin Tendulkar's special words for ‘Akaay’

 

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar expressed his congratulations to Kohli and Anushka on X, celebrating the ‘precious addition’ to their lovely family.

 

“Congratulations to Virat and Anushka on the arrival of Akaay, a precious addition to your beautiful family! Just like his name lights up the room, may he fill your world with endless joy and laughter. Here's to the adventures and memories you'll cherish forever. Welcome to the world, little champ!,” Tendulkar wrote on Twitter.

 

 

 

Meanwhile the likes of Rashid Khan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, Varun Chakravarthy took conveyed their congratulations to Virat and Anushka with their heartfelt wishes.

 

 

In 2021, Kohli became a father for the first time when his daughter Vamika was born, following Anushka's pregnancy announcement in 2020. Subsequently, Kohli took a leave from the Test series against Australia, having participated in the opening match at Adelaide Oval. In his absence, Ajinkya Rahane led India to a 2-1 victory in the series.

 

Last month, Kohli withdrew from the first two Tests against England citing 'personal reasons,' leading to Rajat Patidar taking his place in the squad. Kohli also missed the final three Tests against the team led by Ben Stokes.

Since playing in the T20I series against Afghanistan in January, Kohli has not participated in any cricket matches. He is anticipated to make a comeback in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), where he represents Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), captained by Faf du Plessis.

Furthermore, Kohli is expected to play a significant role for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place later this year in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA).
