Shubman Gill provided a major update on his finger injury after India defeated England by 106 runs in the second Test match in Visakhapatnam on February 5. The stylish India batter Shubman Gill revealed that he sustained the injury after he completed the catch of Rehan Ahmed at short mid-wicket during England's first innings. Gill spoke candidly and revealed that he had to take injections before he walked out to bat in the second innings.

"I took an injection before coming out to bat in the 2nd innings because of getting hit on the fingers," Gill told the host broadcasters.

When it comes to Gill's availability for the remainder for the series, the stylish Indian batter affirmed that he will be fine moving forward and he expects the finger to heal in the next couple of days.

On the morning of February 5, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to X (formerly Twitter) and announced that Gill sustained an injury to his index finger while fielding on Day 2. Despite the injury, Gill batted in the second innings and played an outstanding knock that helped India extend their lead to 398 runs.

Shubman Gill silenced his critics with a masterful century on Day 3 of the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam, breaking out of a recent slump in form. His hundred was a crucial innings, restoring his self-confidence after a string of low scores and providing a solid foundation for the Indian team.

Achieving this milestone in the 52nd over by gently pushing a delivery from Shoaib Bashir to the on-side, Gill experienced a significant moment of personal and professional redemption. It took him 132 balls to reach the century mark, an innings embellished with 11 fours and two sixes.

This century marks Gill's third in Test cricket and comes at a critical time, showcasing his resilience and capability amidst scrutiny over his recent performances. Before this breakthrough, Gill had struggled in the series against England, recording scores of a duck, 23, and 34 in his previous outings, totaling only 57 runs in three innings. Gill scored 104 runs and helped India reach a score of 255 runs.
