Abhishek Sharma devastated England bowlers with his explosive knock in the fifth and final T20I of the series at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. Abhishek Sharma etched his name into the record books by scoring the highest individual score for an Indian batter in T20I with his 54-ball 135 onslaught against England riding on 13 fours and 7 fours. The star southpaw tonked 13 sixes and seven fours with a stunning strike rate of 250.

Abhishek's explosive batting in the fifth T20I against England at the Wankhede Stadium saw him smash the second-fastest century for India, reaching the milestone in just 37 balls. After India were put in to bat and lost Sanju Samson early, Abhishek launched a fierce attack, targeting the English bowlers from the outset. He particularly punished Jofra Archer with a four and two sixes in the third over before taking on Mark Wood and Jamie Overton. Overton bore the brunt of Abhishek's aggression, conceding two consecutive sixes in the fifth over as the batsman reached his half-century.

The century was Abhishek's second for India in only 16 innings, boosting his total runs to over 500 with an astonishing strike rate exceeding 190. The record for the fastest T20I century for India still belongs to Rohit Sharma, who struck a 35-ball century against Sri Lanka in 2017.  Late in 2024, Abhishek had also equaled the record for the fastest T20 century by an Indian, hammering a 28-ball hundred for Punjab in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

India's strong start to the innings also resulted in their highest-ever Powerplay score in T20Is, reaching 95/1 in six overs. This surpassed the previous best of 82 runs, which India had achieved twice in 2021 and 2024.

Riding on Abhishek's batting blitz, India ended up posting a colossal total of 247/9 in their stipulated 20 overs.
