Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi likely to be dropped from 2nd Test.

Former Pakistan captains Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi will most likely to be dropped from the squad for the upcoming second Test match against England which is scheduled to start from October 15 at Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan.

Pakistan have already faced a humiliating loss in the first Test match against England despite scoring more than 500 runs in the first inning. Babar just scored 35 runs in two innings and on the other hand, speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi just one wicket.

As per Pakistan's Ary News, the squad announcement for the second Test will be made after consultation with the PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi. The selection committee has already completed discussions with the captain and head coach.

Shan Masood to be sacked

Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has failed to win a Test match and now there are speculations that he will also be sacked from captaincy after the team's sixth consecutive Test defeat, including several historically humiliating losses.

"The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has restructured the selection committee. The new committee will strategize for the upcoming Test matches and deliberate on team leadership changes," the report added.

According to media reports, with ongoing discussions regarding the leadership change, potential candidates to replace Shan Masood as captain include Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan, and Salman Ali Agha.

Pakistan Cricker Board (PCB) has hit rock bottom. The team has failed to perform since the T20 World Cup 2022. They faced their biggest loss in the T20 World Cup 2024, when they lost their opener clash against the non-Test-playing nation USA.

PCB will announce their squad for the second Test match against England on October 13 (today). The board will likely to add two new spinners in the squad.
