Former India skipper Virat Kohli kept India’s hopes in World Test Championship (WTC) final as he remained unbeaten for 44 and took the score to 164/3 in the run chase of 444. Kohli batted positively as the crowd at Kennington Oval, London, cheered him for every run scored, every boundary hit. After the day’s play, Kohli gave Ajinkya Rahane a pat on the back and gave flying kisses as he walked back to the dressing room. More than half an hour after Day 4, Stumps, Kohli shared a cryptic post on Instagram.

Kohli shared a quote from Thich Nhat Hanh which read, "If we have too many worries, fears, and doubts, we have no room for living and loving. We need to practice letting go."

As India posted 164/3 on Day 4, they need 280 more runs on Day 5 to pull off the highest run chase in the history of Test cricket.

Kohli also achieved milestones in the third session of Day 4. First, he became the fifth Indian batter to score 2,000 or more Test runs against Australia. He became the fourth batter after Sachin Tendulkar and West Indies' Viv Richards, Desmond Haynes to achieve the double of 2000-plus runs in ODIs and Tests against Australia.

Kohli became the second batter in world cricket to score 5,000 international runs against Australia after Tendulkar who has 6,707 runs against them. He achieved it from 109 innings against the Aussies. He broke Tendulkar’s record in ICC knockouts as well. The 34-year-old now holds the Indian record for most runs in ICC knockout events. Tendulkar held the previous record of 657 runs.

Earlier, in the first innings, Kohli was cautious against the new ball. He got off to a decent start but left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc's short delivery got the better of him. The extra bounce off the pitch surprised him and the ball brushed off his glove and into the hands of slip fielder Steve Smith.
