Australia legendary speedster Brett Lee suggested struggling Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to get away from the ground before the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He suggested the Indian batting greats to work on their technique before five Test match series against Australia.
Rohit and Kohli failed to perform in their last Test assignment against New Zealand where the India captain just scored 91 runs and Virat scored 93 in six innings. Lee said that it's hard to put fingers on players like Rohit and Virat.
“If you look at the Hitman (Rohit Sharma) and King (Virat) Kohli – they got 90 runs each in the series. It’s so unlike them. They are way better players than that. It’s hard to put your fingers on why they failed," stated Lee on his YouTube channel.
“When you have a couple of bad runs back-to-back, that’s when the pressure could set in. I guess the thing now is someone like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma just have to go back to the drawing board."
“Work on that technique, freshen up, get away from cricket as much as they can and then hit the ground running when they go to Australia, because I can promise you – these Australian fast bowlers will attack Rohit Sharma with that brand new ball. I have seen him play a lot and I reckon they’ll be ready for the Aussies," Lee said.
Team India will play five Test matches against Australia which is scheduled to start from November 22 and the team excluding Rohit has already started preparing for the red-ball assignment. The upcoming five Test match series is important for India to seal their spot for the World Test Championship Final. The Men in Blue need to win this series 4-0 to confirm their their berth for WTC final for third consecutive time.
