Australia captain Pat Cummins said that the loss in the first Test match against India is fairly disappointing for the hosts. Jasprit Bumrah-led side registered 295 runs dominating win to take a 1-0 lead in five Test match series. This was India's second-biggest win margin by runs in Test cricket for Men in Blue.
Cummins also reckoned that their preparation was good and everyone was firing during the nets and it was one of the bad games by the defending World Test Champions.
"Fairly disappointing. We thought our prep leading into it was good. Everyone was firing. It's just one of those games.. not much went right. It is what it is. After a loss, you want to get back on the horse pretty quickly. We didn't give ourselves a chance - a few different facets. Late on Day 1, if we had got through that period, things would've been different on Day 2. There's a lot of experience there. There will be plenty of conversations, and plenty of time in the nets. See what we could've done differently" said Cummins in a post-match conference.
Coming back to the match, skipper Jasprit Bumrah was the standout performer of the match against Australia as he picked a match-haul of 8/72 as India bowled out the hosts, who were in pursuit of a mammoth 534, for 238 in 58.4 overs on the fourth afternoon of the opening Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. With this win India again came on the top of the World Test Championship standings with 61.11 percentage points.
