The Indian squad began preparing for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which will be beginning on November 22 in Perth. India entered the series after losing to New Zealand 0–3 at home. The batters' precarious form is one of India's main worries before the series. KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli have not been playing well. It will be up to the young players to contribute more and help the team win.

Two of India's most important players in the series will be Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal. During the last visit, Pant played a key role in India's series victory. In the five Test matches he played after returning to Test cricket, he hit a hundred, 99, and two fifties, demonstrating his recent excellent form. Jaiswal has been incredibly reliable for India in Test cricket. But the trip of Australia will truly put his abilities to the test.

Jaiswal's roaring entrance in Australia

Young Yashasvi Jaiswal was practising in the WACA nets ahead of the five-match series and during that, he smashed one of the balls out of the training park and it landed outside on the road. The video of their practice and the picture of the ball that landed on the road outside is going viral all across social media at a rapid pace.

Fight for spot in WTC Final

In terms of the WTC final, the series is crucial for India. The loss to New Zealand set India back, even though they were clear favorites to make it to the final. Now, India must defeat Australia 4-0 in order to advance without relying on other outcomes. India would require England to draw at least one Test match in New Zealand if the score was 3-0, 3-1, or 4-1. India will require England to defeat New Zealand in at least one Test match if they win 2-0. England and Sri Lanka will need to defeat Australia and New Zealand in one Test each if India wins the series 3-2.
