India Test captain confident that wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant will feature in the fourth Test against England after scans allayed fears of a major injury to his finger. The fourth Test match will take place from 23 to 27 July at Old Trafford Cricket Ground in England
Vice-captain Pant got an injury during Day 1 of the third Test match at Lord's and left the field midway after suffering a blow to his left index finger. Pant is one of India's best batters in the ongoing series. He scored 425 runs in six innings, including two centuries and a highest score of 135 runs.
“Rishabh went for scans. There is no major injury so he should be fine for fourth Test in Manchester,” Gill said in the post-match press conference. Gill also didn't spell out whether Jasprit Bumrah will be available for the Manchester Test which starts in nine days time.
Pant was seen struggling in pain after his dive to stop a delivery on his left, which was bowled by Jasprit Bumrah down the leg side in the 34th over of England's innings. He did not keep wickets after that incident as Dhruv Jurel came in as a substitute for him. The 27-year-old was in visible discomfort while batting in the second innings, where he got out for 9.
Coming back to the third Test, Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and the usually fragile tail brought India back from the brink but fell heartbreakingly short in the face of England captain Ben Stokes' resolve, going down by 22 runs in the wildly fluctuating Lord's Test.
After England's narrow 22-run win against England the five Test match series of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 is currently in favour of the hosts. England are currently leading 2-1.
