The India's tour of West Indies has been an eventful one so far. First, it was the delay in luggage which led to second T20I starting three hours after the scheduled start. Now, there are clouds of uncertainty over the last two T20Is which are scheduled to be played in Florida, US on August 6 and August 7.
According to Sports Tak source, several Indian players are yet to get their US visas. Cricket West Indies (CWI) is trying to resolve the issue but US policies have become more stringent post Covid-19.
Even if the visa issue gets resolved, Indian team will not fly out to US straight from St Kitts. They will have to go to Guyana to collect their visas and then fly to US.
Currently, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Treasurer Arun Dhumal is in West Indies as well and helping CWI ease the proceedings.
It is yet to be seen whether CWI have decided on a backup venue in case some players don’t get visas.
The last time India played West Indies in Florida was in August 2016 under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. West Indies won the first T20I which was a last-ball thriller whereas rain played spoilsport in the second.
The first T20I was hosted in Trinidad where India registered a comfortable win by 68 runs. In the second T20I, the hosts won by five wickets.
