Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stand out as the most successful teams in IPL history, each clinching the tournament title five times. Let's delve into the players who have played more than 200 IPL matches.
 

MS Dhoni

The cricketing maestro MS Dhoni leads the list of players with more than 200 IPL matches. The IPL legend has participated in 250 matches and scored 5082 runs. Dhoni captains the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He moved to Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) during the IPL seasons of 2016 and 2017.

 

Rohit Sharma

The ‘Hitman’ Rohit Sharma holds the second position with 243 IPL appearances and 6211 runs. He began his career with the Deccan Chargers before joining the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2011, where he continues to play a crucial role. Rohit is notably a five-time IPL-winning captain.

 

Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik, with 242 matches and 4516 runs, currently holds the third spot. The IPL veteran has represented six franchises since 2008, including Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Gujarat Lions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). Karthik served as the full-time captain of the KKR for over two years before joining RCB.

 

Virat Kohli

Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli occupies the fourth position in the prestigious list. With 237 IPL matches and 7263 runs, Kohli has been a stalwart performer. He joined the RCB in 2008 and has remained with the franchise ever since. Kohli served as the full-time captain of RCB from 2013 to 2021.

 

Ravindra Jadeja

The Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja holds the fifth spot, despite missing an entire IPL season. He has participated in 226 IPL matches and accumulated 2692 runs. Jadeja began his career with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) before moving to Kochi Tuskers Kerala. He became a part of CSK in 2012. He also played for Gujarat Lions (GL) in the IPL.


Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan has participated in every IPL season played thus far and currently holds the sixth spot. He has played 217 matches and scored 6617 runs. Dhawan has represented four teams including Delhi Capitals (DC), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Mumbai Indians (MI). He began his career with DC before moving to MI. The experienced batter now captains Punjab Kings.

 

Suresh Raina

Former India all-rounder Suresh Raina ended his IPL career with 205 appearances, accumulating 5528 runs. Raina spent the majority of his IPL career with Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He took on the captaincy of Gujarat Lions in IPL 2016 and 2017. However, Raina remained unsold in the IPL 2022 mega-auction and subsequently announced his retirement from Indian cricket later that year.

 

Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa participated in every IPL season from 2008 to 2022. Throughout his extensive career, he represented six teams (CSK, KKR, MI, PWI, RCB, RR) and ended with 205 IPL appearances, accumulating 4952 runs. Uthappa clinched the IPL trophy with both Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings. Currently, he serves as a commentator in the IPL.

 

Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu entered the elite list before retiring in 2023. The seasoned batter featured in 204 IPL matches, amassing 4348 runs. Rayudu exclusively played for Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, securing three IPL titles with CSK and three trophies with MI.
