Former Chennai Super Kings captain Ravindra Jadeja joined an elite list with Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Kieron Pollard, and Rohit Sharma to have a unique century record in the Indian Premier League. Jadeja completed his 100 IPL catch during the CSK vs KKR match at the MA Chidambaram stadium, on April 8 (Monday).

Ravindra Jadeja has now become the fifth player in the history of the Indian Premier League to take 100 catches as a fielder. The list is led by Virat Kohli (110 catches), followed by Suresh Raina with 109 catches, then Kieron Pollard with 103 catches, and the fourth spot is held by former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma with 100 catches.

KKR lost Phil Salt on the very first ball of their innings to Tushar Deshpande. However, after that, Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi joined a 56-run stand in the batting powerplay. However, this where Ravindra Jadeja came in and rattled the Knights batting line-up.

Jadeja dismissed both set batters, Narine and Raghuvanshi, in the same over and brought CSK back in the match, and then got the wicket of Venkatesh Iyer in his very next over. The premium all-rounder finished his four-over spell with three wickets and just gave away 18 runs. He later also took the catch of Shreyas Iyer to complete his 100th IPL catch.

Jadeja praises Mustafizur Rahman

Along with Jadeaj, Mustafizur Rahman played a crucial role with the ball as well. He was economical and helped CSK build pressure on the visitors. He picked up two wickets in his four-over spell and only gave away 22 runs. He is now once again leading the bowlers' chart with 9 wickets in 5 matches. Jadeja handed him the purple cap after the end of KKR's innings.

“He (Mustafizur) was very effective on this wicket, he bowled very good slower ones, he was amazing I think. When dew comes in the wicket changes here, it gets better for batting. There was slow turn, it's not a rank turner. The ball wasn't coming on to the bat nicely, just tried to target the stumps. If we play normal cricket, I think very easily chaseable on this wicket,” said Jadeja in the mid-innings interaction.
