On the double-header Sunday, Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans (GT) will take on five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) led by Hardik Pandya. Gill will make his captaincy debut whereas Pandya will lead MI for the first time after leaving GT.
In the previous edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), GT were beaten by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final whereas Rohit Sharma-led MI were beaten in the second qualifier.
There have been a few late additions to both teams. MI roped in 17-year-old South African caper Kwena Maphaka as injured Jason Behrendorff’s replacement. Another change MI made was replacing injured Dilshan Madushanka with Luke Wood. GT brought in Sandeep Warrier and BR Sharath as Mohammed Shami and Robin Minz’s replacements respectively.
