Indian cricketer KC Cariappa, renowned for his spells with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Rajasthan Royals (RR), has reached out to the police for help after receiving threats from his former girlfriend that could potentially harm his cricket career.
He reported that the woman not only threatened him but also issued severe warnings to his family members. Cariappa filed the complaint a year after the same woman had previously filed a case against him.
Residing in Ramaiah Layout, Nagasandra, and originally from Kodagu, Cariappa informed the police that he was previously in a relationship with the woman. However, her struggles with drug addiction and alcoholism compelled him to end the association.
Despite his attempts to convince her to quit drinking, she remained steadfast in her habits. She also threatened to harm herself, holding him responsible. A senior police officer verified that an investigation is underway based on Cariappa's complaint.
On the other hand, in 2022, the woman had lodged a complaint, accusing the cricketer of impregnating and providing her abortion pills. She asserted that Cariappa had promised to marry her.
Interestingly, the woman is unaware of Cariappa's complaint and has expressed her intention to counteract. Cariappa has gained recognition for his versatile playing style.
His IPL journey commenced in 2015 with the KKR, where he claimed the wicket of AB de Villiers in his debut match. Later, he played one match for the two-time champions before becoming part of the PBKS in 2016.
In 2019, Cariappa returned to KKR, stepping in for the injured Shivam Mavi. However, he was released by KKR before the 2020 auction. In 2021, the RR included Cariappa in their squad. He made his List A debut for Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2021.
He remained with the RR until IPL 2023, but the team released the player before the IPL 2024 auction. Throughout his IPL career, the player participated in 11 matches and secured 8 wickets.
