Mitchell Marsh has struggled to score big in IPL 2024.

In Marsh's absence, Jake Fraser-McGurk has proved his mettle.

Delhi Capitals’ (DC) have been a deal a major blow ahead of their home game against Gujarat Titans (GT). Australia’s T20I captain Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Marsh suffered a partial tear in his right hamstring and flew back to Australia midway through the season.

DC are yet to make an official confirmation on Marsh’s unavailability. It will be interesting whether they will name Marsh’s replacement or not. While their batting has been satisfactory, it is their bowling department which has been tatters in the absence of an in-form overseas fast bowler as Anrich Nortje has struggled and Lizaad Williams is yet to be tested.

Marsh’s ordinary numbers in IPL 2024

Marsh was not in the best of forms in the IPL 2024 scoring 61 runs from four games. In his previous outing, he was dismissed for a duck by Mitchell Starc. With the ball, he managed to bag just one wicket.

Marsh’s struggle with injuries

However, this is not the first time an injury has led to Marsh’s IPL stint getting cut-short. He was ruled out of IPL 2020 after hurting his ankle when he was a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). In the next season, he pulled out citing bubble fatigue. In IPL 2016, he left now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) after suffering a side strain. In the following season, he pulled out due to a shoulder injury.

Marsh’s replacement shines

In Marsh’s absence, 22-year-old Jake Fraser-McGurk made his IPL debut. He has scored two half-centuries from three appearances already.
