Star opening batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz is all set to rejoin the Kolkata Knight Riders camp in a few days for their ongoing campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The Afghanistan player returned home on May 1st to be with his mother, who was having some health-related issues. This is good news for the Knights camp as their current opening star Phil Salt might have to leave before the IPL 2024 playoffs for England's bilateral series against Pakistan.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz to rejoin KKR camp
Rahmanullah Gurbaz announced that he would be joining the KKR camp soon through his official ‘X’ account formerly known as Twitter. He also thanked everyone for the wishes and prayers for his mother.
“After a short break from IPL due to my mother’s illness, i will join my kkr family very soon, thanks for all the messages and prayers, alhumdulillah she is feeling better now thanks,” wrote Gurbaz on ‘X’.
Phil Salt likely to leave IPL 2024 before playoffs
Phil Salt and other England players who are part of their T20 World Cup 2024 squad will most likely return home ahead of the IPL 2024 playoffs to compete in the bilateral series against Pakistan. Salt has been one of the top performers for KKR and has scored 429 runs in 11 matches with a strike rate of 183.33. He has also smashed four half-centuries this season.
His departure before the playoffs can affect the Knights a lot but now that Gurbaz is all set to join the team again. He can potentially fill in for the spot. He opened for KKR last season and provided team with good starts on many occasions.
