Virat Kohli will have a chance to reclaim the Orange Cap.

After nine games in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, two batters have managed to score more than 100 runs. Rajasthan Royals' (RR) Riyan Parag joined Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) Heinrich Klaasen after a match-winning unbeaten 84-run knock against Delhi Capitals (DC) on March 28. Parag has 127 runs from two games while Klaasen is on top with 143 runs from two innings. Klaasen is the only batter with two half-centuries in the ongoing season so far.

Virat Kohli is third on the list with 98 runs from two games including a 77-run knock against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the previous game. RR skipper Sanju Samson came close to surpassing him but was dismissed early by DC left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed in the powerplay overs. He is followed by SRH's Abhishek Sharma with 95 runs from two games. Abhishek scored the fastest half-century for SRH as they created history by posting the highest total in the league's history against Mumbai Indians (MI) on March 27.

Kohli’s chance to take orange cap off Klaasen’s head

Kohli will have a chance to reclaim the top spot on the list. He will need 46 more runs to dethrone Klaasen. Also, RCB's Dinesh Karthik and KKR all-rounder Andre Russell have a chance to move into the top five. Karthik has 66 runs from two innings whereas Russell contributed with a quickfire 64 against SRH in their home game.

IPL points table update

The 12-run win over DC helped RR move to the second spot on the points table. CSK are on top with two wins and a considerably higher net run rate (NRR) than RR. DC, Mumbai Indians (MI), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are the three sides who are yet to register their first win of the season. DC and MI have suffered two defeats each.
