Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head rewrote history books at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi as they broke the record for highest powerplay score. Sharma and Head went berserk against a hapless Delhi Capitals (DC) bowling lineup and scored 125 runs from six overs.

The previous best powerplay score in IPL history belonged to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). They scored 105 runs for no loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2024. In T20s, Nottinghamshire held the record. They scored 106 runs for no loss against Durham in 2017.

They also broke the records for fastest team hundreds in IPL history by overs taken. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) reached 100 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2014 when Suresh Raina launched an onslaught.

Fastest IPL fifty record missed

Earlier, Head also equalled Sharma's record for fastest fifty for SRH. He reached the milestone from just 16 balls. They shared a 131-run partnership from 38 balls.

Sharma missed the chance to break his own record as he departed for a 12-ball 46. His knock featured two fours and six sixes. He would have broken Yashasvi Jaiswal's record for fastest IPL fifty (13 balls).

Fastest ton missed

Head missed a chance to score the fastest century for an Australian batter. He was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav in the ninth over. The left-handed batter's 32-ball 89 was laced with 11 fours and six sixes.

Head misses out on another record

Head also became the second-fastest to half-century in IPL in terms of team overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul did it for their respective franchises in 2.5 overs. Head achieved the feat when SRH completed three overs.
