SRH eked out a one-run win over RR in their IPL 2024 clash.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar defended 13 runs off the last over and didn't let RR chase down a target of 202 runs.

Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) emerged victorious in a heart-stopping one-run win against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2024 clash on Thursday, May 2. Captain Pat Cummins admitted that during the tense final moments, he was even contemplating a super over scenario. SRH had set a target of 202 runs. Rajasthan's chase initially appeared comfortable thanks to a solid 134-run partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag. However, the dismissal of both batsmen sparked a dramatic collapse for the Royals, leading the match down to the wire. Bhuvneshwar Kumar's heroics in the final over secured the win for SRH. Reflecting on the close call, Cummins described it as an incredible match. He confessed that until the very last ball, SRH had little hope of securing victory.  Cummins admitted he wasn't anticipating a wicket on the final delivery and was mentally preparing for a super over.

Super Over crossed Pat Cummins' mind

"Amazing game. Didn't think we had that one until literally the last ball. It is T20 cricket, you get used to the batters getting over the line. When you get to the last over, you do feel anything can happen. Bhuvneshwar nailed six yorkers. On the last ball, it did not really cross my mind that we could get a wicket, was thinking of Super Over," Cummins said at the post-match press conference.

Nitish Kumar Reddy's knock was instrumental in setting up SRH's strong total. The youngster smashed a career-best 76 runs off just 42 balls, showcasing his explosive batting. SRH captain Pat Cummins showered praise on Nitish, calling him a fantastic player. Cummins admired Nitish's ability to read the pitch conditions quickly and switch gears to an attacking mode. He also hinted at Nitish's potential as a valuable all-rounder for the team.

"He (Nitish) is fantastic. He summed up the conditions really well - took the first ten balls to get himself in and then basically hit it wherever he wanted. He is amazing, is great in the field and gives a couple of handy overs as well," Cummins concluded.
