Mumbai Indians' (MI) pace spearhead Jofra Archer has lambasted the floating rumours surrounding his elbow surgery in Belgium with a strong-worded tweet on Wednesday (April 26). Archer was livid in his expression when he learnt that the news of his going to Belgium midway through the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season to consult a doctor for his elbow injury, which has made the headlines. Apparently The Telegraph reported that the star English pacer underwent a minor procedure in his right elbow in Belgium of late. The MI's star pacer missed the first four matches, however, he made a return to Paltans' playing XI in the match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). But yet again he missed the following match against defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT). Archer is likely to feature for MI in the tie against former champions Rajasthan Royals (RR) which will be played on April 30 (Sunday).

Archer came down heavily on the reports which stated that the star bowler went under the knife in Belgium on his right elbow again and putting it out without his consent. Archer said, "Putting out an article without knowing the facts & without my consent is crazy. Who ever the reporter is shame on you, an already worrying and troubling time for a player and you exploit it for your personal gain, it’s people like you that are the problem."

Notably, Archer's recurring elbow injury had kept him on the sidelines of the cricket for two years. Although he was roped in by MI in the IPL 2022, but he couldn't get to play a single match of that season owing to his injury woes. Besides, Archer also couldn't play T20 World Cup in 2021 and 2022, and Ashes.

In the match against PBKS, Archer bowled a spell of four overs in which he conceded 42 runs and also picked a wicket. He looked consistent with his pace which kept hovering around 145 kmph at regular intervals, giving an indication that he is getting back to the groove.

Talking about the five-time champions MI's performance this season, they are seventh on the points table with just three wins in a total of seven matches that they have played so far.
