It was yet another brilliant performance by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) who suffered defeat at the hands of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), led by their opener Yashasvi Jaiswal at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday, May 12. Jaiswal, who already has a century this season, missed out on a second ton by just two runs.
He could have achieved the feat earlier, but one moment by young spinner Suyash Sharma effectively ended his chances of a ton when he bowled wide on the final ball of his third over.
It was the final ball of the 13th over, and RR needed just three runs to seal the win. Then Suyash tried to bowl a wide, which the skipper Sanju read perfectly. He, instead, chose to defend the ball and give the strike back to Yashasvi, but this action by the bowler was not appreciated by the fans, who expressed their discontent on social media, while also appreciating the moves made by Samson.
Many compared the moment to when Suraj Randiv bowled a no-ball to prevent Virender Sehwag from completing his century. Meanwhile, Jaiswal, needing a six to reach his second IPL ton, achieved the feat with 41 balls to spare.
