The Indian Premier League (IPL) match between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was one of epic proportions, with the visitors sealing a spot in the playoffs with their win over the home team. However, the match was marred with allegations from the Mohun Bagan Athletic Club's board that fans who were wearing the special 'Green and Maroon' Jersey were not allowed to enter the stadium by members of the KKR management.

"It was a special match between KKR and LSG of IPL on 20th May 2023 at Eden Gardens for the supporters of Mohun Bagan because LSG was wearing a new Green and Maroon Jersey. But, the KKR management curtailed the freedom of the Mohun Bagan supporters (who are also fans of KKR and LSG) by not allowing them to enter the stadium as they were wearing the jersey of Mohun Bagan," said the official statement from the club.

This comes after LSG wore a special Green and Maroon jersey to celebrate the name change of their team's owners RPSG's football club in the Indian Super League (ISL) to Mohun Bagan Super Giants after protests removed the ATK prefix from the team.

"It is an individual's right to support and wear the jersey of the team which he/she loves and supports. No one has the right to interfere in one's own choice. Thus, Mohun Bagan Athletic Club strongly condemns this decision of KKR management for disrespecting the National Club of India and hurting the sentiment of our supporters," the statement concluded.

Reports from the stadium suggest that the fans were eventually allowed into the stadium after they turned their t-shirts inside out to hide the Mohun Bagan logo.
