In a first for Indian Premier League (IPL), two games will be played simultaneously. The last two league matches of IPL 2021 on October 8 will be played at the same time. Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) vs Mumbai Indians (MI) clash was supposed to be played in the afternoon. Now, it will be played alongside Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Delhi Capitals (DC).
It will be interesting if the two matches are played at the same time as two of the franchises may still be fighting for the playoffs spot. KKR have won five out of their 11 matches while MI were in the seventh position before the match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) with four wins from 10 games.
On the other hand, SRH are practically out of the playoffs race and DC have already qualified with eight wins from 11 games.
Along with double-headers taking place simultaneously, Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) also announced tender of IPL media rights for 2023-2027 cycle. The tender will be announced right after the appointment of two new IPL franchises which is scheduled for October 25, 2021.
