One of the biggest football clubs in England, Manchester United owners have shown interest in buying new Indian Premier League (IPL) teams for the next edition of the tournament, a source in the IPL Government Council (GC) told Sports Tak.

Speaking on the development a source said, “Yes they (Manchester United owners) have shown interest in new teams coming in for next season and they have picked up the ITT.”

“Will see how it goes from here” he added.

Earlier, the GC of the IPL had issued the Invitation to Tender (ITT) document which was available on payment of the non-refundable tender fees on August 31, 2021. The invitation to purchase the ITT document was issued on August 31, 2021, and it was attached as Annexure A.

Subsequently, the BCCI had extended the date for purchasing the ITT document till October 10, 2021, which is nothing but Extension Notice I and the Extension Notice I is attached as Annexure B.

Along with some other reputed names, Manchester United’s name is the biggest name that has shown interest for ITT. Moreover, on seeing many requests from various interested parties, BCCI has now decided to further extend the date for purchasing the ITT document till October 20, 2021.

The ITT will be available to interested parties on receipt of payment of the non-refundable tender fee of INR 10,00,000 (Rupees Ten Lac Only) plus any applicable Goods and Services Tax. In addition to that, all the other terms contained in the Invitation document will be applicable.

On October 25, the names of the owners of the two new IPL franchises will be disclosed. It depends upon the other associated member and buyers how things go for United. But for now, they are in the top contention of buying a franchise in the next season of IPL.
