English all-rounder Liam Livingstone was roped in by Punjab Kings franchise for an amount of Rs 11.5 Crore at the mega auction for IPL 2022. On the other hand Indian batter Mayank Agarwal will be seen as the leader of the Punjab-based franchise in the upcoming edition of IPL.
While talking about the leadership of Mayank, the English all-rounder admitted that Mayank “does have a huge responsibility” but “it is also up to” them “to help him out and give him some advice whenever he needs it.”
Livingstone speaks
“He does have a huge responsibility but it is also up to us to help him out and give him some advice whenever he needs it but he seems a very good character. The way he has gone about his captaincy at the moment he has given everyone a lot of confidence. He is a great speaker within the group and I think that is key so I am really excited for him to sort of lead the way for us and I am sure he will do like he has done in the last couple of years,” the 28-year-old all-rounder told Sports Today.
“He will lead from the front. He’s had obviously a couple of really good IPLs, and hopefully he can continue that this year, so we are very blessed to have him and Shikhar at the top of the order and I am sure with their leadership they will lead from the front,” he further added.
Preparations for IPL 2022
On the other hand, Livingstone also talked about his team’s strategy in the 15th edition of IPL and according to him they are going to play “an aggressive, exciting brand of cricket.”
“I think we have talked about playing an aggressive brand of cricket and I think the players that we have put together, the side that we have put together, pretty much everybody plays in that sort of way. Whatever is gone is gone, you cannot change the past. We have got a very exciting team and we have got a very exciting time ahead of us.
“We feel like we have got a lot of confidence in the squad that we have got. Mayank is obviously a new captain and he has been great over the last week. For me he has got great some ideas and I guess the way that we want to play our cricket is going to be an aggressive, exciting brand of cricket and hopefully entertaining for all the fans to watch and I think that is the main thing as long as we go out and entertain people and hopefully the victories will take care of themselves.”
Punjab Kings will start their IPL campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on March 27.
