Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Rajat Patidar on May 3 (Wednesday) announced that he has undergone successful surgery for an injury that was troubling him for quite some time. Patidar took to Twitter and shared a message along with a picture of himself.
"Just wanted to give a quick update to all my supporters out there. I recently underwent surgery for an injury that has been troubling me for a while now, but I'm happy to say that it went well and I'm on the road to recovery! Thank you all for prayers. Your, RP," wrote Patidar in a Tweet.
Patidar was ruled out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 due to an Achilles Heel injury. The Bangalore-based franchise on April 4 confirmed Patidar's injury and officially ruled him out of this year's competition.
“Unfortunately, Rajat Patidar has been ruled out of #IPL2023 due to an Achilles Heel injury. We wish Rajat a speedy recovery and will continue to support him during the process. The coaches and management have decided not to name a replacement player for Rajat just yet,” RCB had said in a Tweet.
The right-handed batter was in fine form last season. Coming in as a replacement, he scored 333 runs from eight innings at an average of 55.50 including one century and two half-centuries. He scored at a strike rate of 152.75. Patidar scored his maiden IPL century against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the eliminator in a losing cause.
The Red Army has missed Patidar's services as apart from Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell, the franchise hasn't received consistent returns from the rest of the batters. Having said that, RCB are currently fifth in the points table with five wins and four losses after playing nine matches. Du Plessis' men have accumulated 10 points so far this season.
