Vaughan wonders if IPL will get cancelled like Manchester Test after Natarajan tests Covid positive

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has asked a tough question after Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) T Natarajan tests positive for Covid-19. In a tweet Vaughan wrote,” Let’s see if the IPL gets cancelled like the last Test !!!!! I guarantee it won’t be”.

The 46-year-old believes that Indian Premier League (IPL) will go on unlike the last Test of the five-match series in Manchester which was cancelled after Covid scare. Indian head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun, fielding coach R Sridhar and physio Yogesh Parmar tested positive for the virus ahead of Manchester Test which led to an abrupt end to the series.

After the cancellation of fifth Test, Vaughan was visibly unhappy and said that second phase of IPL 2021 was the reason behind it. He believes that the IPL 2021’s schedule was one of the reasons why the Test was cancelled and not postponed.

“IPL teams chartering planes .. 6 days quarantining required in the UAE .. 7 days till the tournament starts !!!! Don’t tell me the Test was cancelled for any other reason but the IPL,” he tweeted earlier this month.

After Natarajan’s test came positive, his six close contacts including all-rounder Vijay Shankar, Vijay Kumar (Team Manager), Shyam Sundar J (Physiotherapist), Anjana Vannan (Doctor), Tushar Khedkar (Logistics Manager) and Periyasamy Ganesan (Net Bowler) were tested and their result came negative. However, they have been isolated from the rest of contingent.
