Indian Premier League 2025 is scheduled to start from March 22. Four franchises will be led by new captains. Here's the list of IPL 2025 captains.
According to media reports, IPL 2025 is to start from March 22. Earlier, Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore chose Rajat Patidar as the new captain. Now out of the 10 franchises of IPL, three teams have chosen the new skipper for the upcoming season. While the announcement of two more new captains is yet to be made.
In the mega auction of IPL 2025 season, the Punjab Kings team showered a lot of money on Shreyas Iyer. Iyer was included in the team for an amount of 26.75 crores and now Iyer will be seen captaining Punjab Kings in the upcoming season.
Lucknow Super Giants
Apart from Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants also released KL Rahul before the IPL auction. Lucknow showered money on Rishabh Pant in his place and made him the most expensive player in IPL history by paying an amount of 27 crores. Now Lucknow has handed over the captaincy of its team to Rishabh Pant.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru
After Lucknow and Punjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore led by Virat Kohli took a big decision before the IPL 2025 season. RCB chose Rajat Patidar as the new captain of their team rather than making Kohli the captain again. Patidar was retained by RCB for an amount of 11 crores.
After leading KKR to the title of the IPL 2024 season, Shreyas Iyer parted ways with the franchise. Iyer has now become the captain of the Punjab Kings. KKR is yet to announce their skipper for the upcoming season. Ajinkya Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer are leading in this race.
Delhi Capitals
Rishabh Pant parted ways with Delhi Capitals after a long time and now he has become the captain of Lucknow Super Giants.DC are the second franchise that is yet to announce its captain. For that, the names of KL Rahul and Axar Patel are leading in the race for captaincy.
Punjab, Lucknow and RCB have announced new captains. Whereas Delhi and KKR are yet to announce. Apart from this, Chennai will be captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mumbai by Hardik Pandya, Gujarat by Shubman Gill, Rajasthan by Sanju Samson and Hyderabad by Pat Cummins.
